Stefanie Vaimakis, MD

Stefanie Vaimakis is a graduate of Haverford College and NYU Medical School. She did her general surgery residency at Saint Vincent’s Medical Center in Manhattan and went on to a Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopy and Bariatric Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center in New York. She is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery since 2005 and a Fellow of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. She has dedicated her practice to Bariatric Surgery for the last 20 years and more recently to the practice of Obesity Medicine. She started the Bariatric Center of Excellence at Holy Name Medical Center and Englewood Hospital and was the Director of Bariatric Surgery at Holy Name for over 10 years.

She was the first to perform Robotic Bariatric Surgery at Holy Name Medical Center, Englewood Hospital and Hudson Regional Hospital. Her practice specializes not just in offering the sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, and Lap Band but also in revisional surgery for those patients with weight regain. Most importantly Dr. Vaimakis focuses on personalized one on one aftercare directly with the doctor to ensure a lasting relationship to ensure long term success. Her expertise in Obesity Medicine has allowed her to be able to treat patients with FDA approved medications who have regained weight after bariatric surgery and get them back on track to reach their goals. Dr. Vaimakis also offers a comprehensive multidisciplinary team which includes a Registered Dietician as well as support groups to provide patients with all the tools to be successful. In addition, Dr. Vaimakis offers a complete medical weight loss program for non surgical patients with the use of FDA approved medications, meal plans, lipotropic injections, meal replacements, neutraceuticals, IV treatments and supplements.
