Joseph Youssef, DO

Dr. Joseph Youssef is a board-certified general surgeon and bariatric surgeon who specializes in minimally invasive procedures, including robotic surgery. He performs bariatric surgery, reflux surgery and specialized procedures using endoscopy. He brings with him a wealth of expertise to treat the patient from the start of their weight loss journey to the very end, using an individualized and custom approach. He has performed many complex laparoscopic intra-abdominal surgeries including advanced foregut procedures, fundoplications, hiatal hernia repairs, revisional bariatric surgery, roux en Y gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, common bile duct explorations, and esophageal surgeries. He received extensive training in advanced flexible endoscopy including stent placement, dilations, Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication (TIF), Stretta Procedure, and polypectomies. He also performs many minimally invasive general surgery procedures including cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair, and colon resections, and other abdominal conditions.

Dr. Youssef began his interest in medicine in college choosing to specialize in biomedical engineering at Columbia University. He completed his medical degree at Rowan University. A north Jersey native, he received his surgical training at in north Jersey at Hackensack University. Motivated by the rapid advances in surgery, he continued his training and enrolled in a rigorous and prestigious surgical fellowship in advanced minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.

In addition to his private practice, Dr. Youssef has many years of experience as a medical instructor and consultant. He has published articles in peer-reviewed journals, surgical book chapters, and lectures at scientific conferences, presenting his extensive research in the areas of minimally invasive surgery and bariatric surgery. He remains actively involved in research and academic surgery, where he is constantly evolving along with advances in the field of surgery in order to provide patients with the best treatments. Dr. Youssef is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Youssef is proud to be a top-ranked physician since 2022. He is also fluent in English and Arabic.
