Dr. Angela Powell, retired US Navy Commander and Diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, graduated from Northwestern University Medical School with residency training in otolaryngology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She founded Plattsburgh Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, PLLC (Plattsburgh ENT) in 2022 with the goal of providing timely, high-quality, compassionate comprehensive general otolaryngology services in a rural, underserved catchment area of upstate New York.

She was Co-Director of the first-ever, tri-service endoscopic sinus surgery course offering in collaboration with the University of California at San Diego in 2009 and received the Program Director's Award for outstanding contributions to the residency program. Upon transfer to Naval Hospital Jacksonville, she served on the Medical Executive Committee, was nominated twice for the Military Health System Female Physician Leader of the Year Award (ranking as a top 5 Navy finalist), and was promoted to the rank of Commander. She completed training as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and transitioned to the USN reserves in December 2019, receiving a Joint Service Commendation Medal.
Dr. Powell entered civilian practice as an employed otolaryngologist with the Guthrie Medical Group in 2019. She served as Chair of the Otolaryngology section of the National Medical Association and President of the Harry Barnes Medical Society from 2020–2022, and was the first African American to Chair the Women in Otolaryngology Section of the AAO-HNS from 2019–2020. She recently completed a four-year term as Director-at-large on the Board of Directors of the AAO-HNS and is currently a 2026 AAO-HNS candidate for President-elect.
She is the founder and owner of Plattsburgh Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, PLLC (Plattsburgh ENT), which opened in 2022 with the goal of providing comprehensive general otolaryngology services in a rural, underserved catchment area of upstate New York. Her volunteer efforts include serving as a board member for the Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital Foundation and as an adult Christian education instructor with Holy Cross Parish.
